Welcome to the website of the Lansbury Players, an exciting theatre company based in Tower Hamlets. Members are drawn from across East London and further afield. Our name is taken from the inspirational local politician George Lansbury, who also gave his name to the Lansbury Estate where the group was formed.
Until 2006 we performed at the Emery Theatre in Poplar, but since its closure, we have been looking for a new permanent home - any suggestions or offers would be very welcome!
However, we are still very much in action. In the last year, we have staged a comedy double bill at the Teviot Community Centre, and appeared at the Waltham Forest Festival of Theatre, where we won two awards and were nominated for two more - read all about it! We closed our 2007 season with a Halloween pantomime - Dracula - the Vampire Strikes Back at Oxford House in Bethnal Green.
